Day 24

June 22, 2017
We were not so sad to leave this beautiful campground with its noise.  Before we could get out of the driveway our tire monitor alarm went off showing the outside dual tire on the passenger side had lost air, not all of it but substantial so we limped into Hungry Horse, MT to the Sinclair station and the very nice chap at the garage said he could fix it.  So using our new leveling jacks on the rear we lifted it enough for him to remove the tire.  Result:  leaking valve stem but repairable by removing the tire from the rim and tightening the valve stem.  Back on the motorhome and away we went but not before enjoying some huge delicious huckleberry pancakes at Carolyn’s Cafe also next door.  Our drive from Hungry Horse to the Canada/USA border was beautiful, uneventful. We did enjoy the little towns we passed through because of their quaint western theme.  We've been 3,151 miles in the motorhome since we left Georgetown to the Canada border at Roosville.  Arriving at the border we had to wait several cars and minutes until our turn came at the window.  The agent asked the usual about handguns, ammo, alcohol and one last question, “Where is your gun?”  We said in our safe in Texas.  He said enjoy Canada and we were on our way in a foreign land.  Highway 93 in MT continues as 93 in Canada but in better repair.  Very scenic drive and we decided it deserved the description of “majestic”.  The mountains and numerous lakes make it true.

We arrived at our chosen campground, Fairmont Hot Springs RV Resort, a lovely place to spend two or three days but alas we have only one night.  Bear warnings everywhere.  Good to be back to cell service and wifi. No lunch today, not necessary after Carolyn’s pancakes, and only a ham sandwich for dinner and early to bed. No TV!
