Day 93

August 30, 2017
Up early in order to get to Port Angeles to catch the ferry to Victoria.

Got the car parked across the street from the ferry terminal, boarded the COHO and found a seat inside, chatted with a couple from Oregon for the 90 minute ride before arriving in Victoria.

The shuttle bus was waiting at the curb in front of the ferry terminal and we had a 40 minute ride to The Butchart Gardens.  We had been to Victoria many years ago but the rain kept us from going to the gardens so the purpose of this trip was to see the gardens.

The gardens are maintained today by 50 permanent gardeners and in summer that number expands to 75.  Their work is evident in the fantastic displays.  Just a few.

The fountains were especially interesting.

Saw the carousel but did not ride.

Being tired from walking around the gardens we found the gelato shop and had an ice cream

before walking back to the bus stop.  Arriving back in Victoria we had some time so we had a hot dog from a very colorful vendor on the waterfront, saw some totems

and the parliament building

then boarded the ferry for our return to Port Angeles.  Drove back to the campground at Sequim State Park, had a salad for dinner and early to bed.
